Q: Is Sculptra® a filler?
A: Sculptra
® is not a filler, but rather an injectable that works deep in the layers of your skin to increase your body’s own collagen production over the course of several years.  You may appear swollen or filled the day of the injection, but results are slow and steady.  You will have younger and firmer skin over time.  A gel dermal filler contains hyaluronic acid which will replenish volume loss and will hold its shape under the skin.

Q: Who is a candidate for Sculptra®?
A: Anyone!  It is best for those looking for slow, natural results.  It is not an immediate injectable, but it is worth the wait!  My suggestion would be start in your third decade of life.

Q: What should I expect from a Sculptra® session?
A: I will assess your face to see where Sculptra
® is needed the most, and what your biggest concern is.  I will numb small areas where I will insert the needle or cannula where I will administer the medication.  There will be multiple areas of injection depending on what your face needs.  Plan on 1 hour for the session.  Depending on your goal, the treatment will be repeated at least once, maybe twice, for a total of three sessions.  Then, you will need annual booster sessions to keep the collagen kicking!

Q: Do Sculptra® treatments hurt?
A: I try my best to make you as comfortable as possible!  The numbing medication helps and there is some lidocaine in Sculptra
® as well.

Q: What do I do to prep for a treatment?
A: Drink a lot of water - at least 64 ounces before coming.  Avoid aspirin, Aleve, ibuprofen, turmeric, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, or garlic for 7 days prior to the treatment.  Avoid alcohol 3 days prior to your treatment.  Pause your retinol or tretinoin for 3 days prior and for 3 days after.  You could pre-treat with Arnica tablets 3 days prior, if you’d like, but this isn’t necessary.

Q: How about post treatment instruction?
A: The day of your injection, I encourage just a slow day.  Get your exercise in before you come in.  I will educate you on post Sculptra
® massage to help reduce any lumps.

Q: What are common side effects of Sculptra®?

A: There can be some swelling and bruising.  These may last 1-15 days.  There may be some tenderness.

Q: How much does Sculptra® cost?

A: Pricing starts at $750. The amount needed depends ultimately on your goals and skin quality.  You will need at least two sessions, but sometimes three, separated by 4-6 weeks.  I offer package pricing.  A good rule of thumb is needing one vial per decade of life.  Annual boosters are 1-2 vials only.
